• 5+ years of development experience in a similar field
• 2+ years of leadership experience
• Experience with cloud applications: building and scaling apps on AWS/Azure/GCP
• Candidates with sufficient proficiency in Dutch (spoken and written) will get priority.
• C#/.Net experience is a big plus

About the procedure The selection process consists of 3 interviews, a coding assignment, and an assessment. Relocation is negotiable, but Dutch residents or people holding an MVV that have applied for residence can be prioritized during the selection process

Your responsibilities

As Manager SRE & Compliance your responsibilities are very diverse, which is part of the charm of the job. On the one hand you are the lead for the SRE team and all the responsibilities that that brings, on the other hand you are the person that is responsible for keeping our ICT Institute security certification and all responsibilities that that involves.

SRE team manager

The SRE team manager is responsible for implementation, maintenance, performance, stability, security, cost and responsiveness of the infrastructure that hosts the Nextens products. You will lead the team to make sure these goals are met. Since all Nextens products are hosted in Microsoft Azure, extensive knowledge of and experience with Azure is essential. You will need to be able to create a rock solid SRE strategy that supports these responsibilities and enables the SRE team, currently 3 SRE engineers, to execute this strategy.

To align all these things you need to be an active part of the SRE Stand-up, SRE leadership team and Technical Leadership team. This provides the SRE team with input on work items that need to be addressed but also makes sure that work items are aligned across the organization and delivered on time.

This role is at the heart and core of the Nextens product and as such, you are responsible for keeping the product running flawlessly at all times. If any incidents arise it is up to you to make sure these incidents are mitigated quickly and all stakeholders are informed in full and on time, post mortems are written and actions are taken to prevent these and other similar incidents occurring in the future.

If any incidents arise with any of our third parties like Logius or Azure, you are responsible to make sure these parties are informed on these incidents and are addressed with the correct priority. It is up to you to inform the correct stakeholders, mitigate issues stemming from these incidents as much as possible and make sure these risks are addressed for future cases.

As team lead you will guide and coach the team in their daily responsibilities. Together you will set up yearly objectives and you will have a line responsibility for both the SRE engineers as well as one of our taxonomists.

You will also hold a duty as compliance officer. With goals to keep and maintain the security certification awarded by the ICT institute, a certification based on ISO 27001. It speaks for itself that you need to have in depth and hands-on knowledge of ISO27001 or any similar certification.

You, the Amsterdam Compliance and security team, and the UK security team are key in making sure the Amsterdam office has an as strong as possible compliance posture. This means, chairing compliance meetings, managing risk logs, making sure there is a continuous improvement process for identified risks, making sure the risk log is up to date and when needed new risks are proactively added to that risk log. Stay up to date with the most recent vulnerabilities and act accordingly to mitigate these vulnerabilities. Identify potential security threats and manage the process surrounding those threats.

You are the first point of contact for many questions from the business surrounding compliance and security. It is up to you to make sure these questions are addressed in a swift and correct manner with information gathered throughout the different departments within RELX.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has/is:

• Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Azure, specifically managing App service plans, CosmosDB, Application insights, Security center, Active Directory
• Knowledge of and hands-on experience with MSSQL
• In depth knowledge of ISO 27001 or other security certifications based on ISO 27001
• Proven experience of line management
• Teamplayer without a 9-5 mentality
• Experience with managing a correct compliance posture within a company
• Experience or knowledge of Terraform
• Experience or knowledge of Azure DevOps
• Experience with Imperva Firewalls
• Able to resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Adept at handling shifting priorities and ambiguity.
• Agile/Scrum mindset
• Dutch speaking
